Meet Dr. Stenbit
Dr. Antine Stenbit is a board certified internal medicine, pulmonary disease and critical care physician. She has been a pulmonary and critical care physician for over 25 years. Currently she mainly practices outpatient pulmonology. During her career, Dr. Stenbit has been involved in not only patient care but has worked in basic science and clinical research and has been involved in many investigator initiated and pharmaceutical clinical trials. Dr. Stenbit has been involved in medical education at all levels. During COVID, Dr. Stenbit was part of developing and creating a ventilator splitter that was the first emergency use device given by the FDA. Dr. Stenbit is a co-founder of Atreus Medical & Surgical Associates with Dr. Boxwell and Andrea Storie.
Dr. Stenbit received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from Carnegie Mellon University. Afterwards, she obtained her MD and PhD in Biochemistry from Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine. She followed that with a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care. She added a subspecialty fellowship in cystic fibrosis under the guidance of Dr. Douglas Conrad. Dr. Antine Stenbit moved from San Diego to Charleston to work at The Medical University of South Carolina. She also has a subspecialization in pulmonary hypertension.
At Atreus Medical & Surgical Associates, Dr. Stenbit specializes in pulmonary issues such as COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, bronchiectasis, pulmonary hypertension, shortness of breath, sleep apnea, cough, chronic cough and more. Additionally, she does cardiopulmonary exercise stress testing (CPET) for patients. The CPET is used by athletes that want to know their VO2Max for training purposes. In the pulmonary department, full pulmonary function testing is done to determine causes of shortness of breath, cough, and evaluate asthma, COPD and fibrosis.
Dr. Stenbit believes that one of the most important parts of Atreus Medical & Surgical Associates is the team approach to airway disease. The interaction between ENT, Pulmonary and Speech and Language Pathology is a unique part of the Atreus Medical & Surgical Associates team. Dr. Stenbit is known for taking the time to listen to patients not only about their pulmonary issues but also their health in general and their interests outside of the clinic.
“I believe in combining the latest medical advances with compassionate, personalized care to help patients breathe easier, stay active and improve their overall quality of life.”
